The World Series of Baseball hasn't started yet, but it looks as if the World Series of Democracy has...I spend a few days away from my computer, and what happens? Dean for America not only breaks the bat for contributions, but meets the goal of signing up over 450,000 to the cause...all this and an appearance tonight on Jay Leno? I guess we'll have plenty to talk about at the Oct. MeetUp.
For anyone who needs a little more to talk about, try and catch Robert Novack on Crossfire tonight, as he desperately tries to talk himself out of a pending criminal investigation involving the White House and the "outing" of a CIA operative. Just another reason to swing that bat!
FROM THE AP:
WASHINGTON Sept. 29 — The White House on Monday emphatically denied that President Bush's chief political strategist was involved in revealing the identity of a CIA operative, in possible violation of the law. A Democratic senator has asked Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to probe the matter.
The naming of the intelligence officer's identity by syndicated columnist Robert Novak came shortly after her husband, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, had undermined Bush's claim that Iraq had tried to buy uranium in Africa.
Wilson has publicly blamed Karl Rove, Bush's top political adviser, for the leak, although Wilson did say Monday he did not know whether Rove personally was the source of Novak's information.
